Noisette Looking Dapper!

October 02, 2016

You may have noticed Noisette has been absent of late, this is because she's been looking high and low for a squirrel tailor!

Her search was successful and now has her very own bespoke band jacket! Though the tailor informs us that "it's tricky to make a jacket fit squirrel arms."

Now that she's returned, we look forward to more frequent updates from Noisette, starting tomorrow at the band's first social of the year after our rehearsal. Like us on Facebook to see all her adventures.

We can confirm yesterday's draw and officially welcome Noisette to our banding family. Keep an eye out for what adventures she gets up to in the future!

Congratulations to Hugo Boucheny for being the winner, he will receive his own squirrel, and a pair of free tickets to our first concert or the year, 'Murder in the Auditorium'.

Even if you didn't win, we hope to see you there; a concert combined with a murder mystery, what more could you want! Sunday 27th November, 1pm start.

COMPETITION TIME!

July 31, 2016

We at KUBB have a new mascot, a delightful Keele squirrel. However, the poor Squirrel hasn't got a name yet, which is where you come in. If the name you suggest is selected, you can win a squirrel of your very own, PLUS a pair of free tickets to our first concert of the year in November!

All you have to do is three simple things:
1 - Like the Keele University Brass Band page (if you haven't already!)
2 - Share the competion post on Facebook post
3 - Comment on the post what you think the squirrel should be named (make sure you comment on the original post!)

All eligible names will be gathered into a hat, where one will be drawn randomly. The winner will then be contacted to claim their prize! Hurry though, the competition will run from Mon 1st August to 6pm Mon 15th August. GOOD LUCK!!

Full T's & C's can be found on our here.

Committee Handover

June 06, 2016

As studies come to an stop ahead of the summer, the process of committee handover has begun. It's a time to thank the current committee for all their hard work, and to wish the incoming team good luck.

The most notable role is that of Chair, a role currently held by Andrew: "It's been an honour and such fun to work for such a good bunch of people, I'm sad that I cannot remain Chair for another year, however, I know Dave will do a smashing job." David will be working closely with Andrew over the coming weeks to continue current projects and keep up the band's development.

Watch this space to find out what these will be!

Recital Season at Keele

May 18, 2016

Tomorrow marks the end of recital season here at Keele University, students on the Keele Music and Music Technology Programmes have put on some great performances over the last three weeks and shown off the musical talent we have on campus.

A total of 8 of our players were amongst them - a couple are pictured below - though some of them not on instruments you may be used to seeing them with! (such as our soprano cornet on piano, or our tenor horn player on violin!)

Announcing our New Conductor Scheme!

May 10, 2016

The band are very excited to announce that we're establishing a Conductor Mentor Scheme - expected to be in place in September ready for the next academic year. The scheme aims to provide up and coming conductors experience and help produce the next generation of brass band superstars!

Alistair's role will officially become 'Musical Director and Principle Conductor', and he will continue his excellent job of improving the band and working us hard for UniBrass - as well as helping the committee develop the band beyond the music.

However, we will be introducing the role of 'Deputy Conductor'. This will be a member of the band that expresses a keen interest in conducting, who will receive advice and guidance over the year from Alistair. They will get the chance to work with the band, and will also take the band in the event of Alistair's unavailability.

This is testament to both Alistair and the band, who have worked incredibly hard recently, enabling us to be in the position to offer such a great opportunity. Watch this space, we might have the next Nicholas Childs on our hands!

The Newly Elected Committee

May 05, 2016

While we're all in election spirit, we're excited about our own band elections. The polls for next year's committee were open for the last week, and after KeeleSU crunched the numbers, the results are ready to be announced!

They're a committed group of people, enthusiastic about the future of the band, here's to another year of great brass banding.

Band Photographs

April 26, 2016

The band had an enjoyable evening yesterday, with a photo-shoot followed by the band AGM. It was a great chance for the committee and the members to talk about the year just passed, and it was great to hear how positive everyone was about the future.

To the side is a little behind-the-scenes picture of the photos, you can see the whole album here by clicking through below.
